The Department of Microbiology was established in 2005 and has B.Sc. Microbiolgy (UG). M.sc Microbiolgy (PG) 2012 with specialization was started from the academic session 2005-2006. The department is well equipped with laboratory with modern instruments. The department is enriched with learning resources such as charts, slides, models which help the students in independent learning. The main thrust area of teaching is General Microbiology, Bacteriology, Virology, Mycology, Microbial Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Recombinant DNA Technology, Microbial Genetics, Biostatistics and Computer Application, Environmental Microbiology, Medical Microbiology, Agriculture Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology  along with teaching activities include under-graduate and post-graduate courses and research activities for Ph.D. program is ongoing . The department has made a steady progress in all these areas. At present, 03 Guest faculty with 02 supporting staff are working in the department. The department has produced 02 Ph.D. and 01 Awared About 15 research papers are different aspects have been published. The department has also organized Seminars/Conferences/ workshops, plantation, poster presentation, science. The department also organizes many training programs for students through Dissertation Project, internships, invites lecture by subject experts. The departmental library has a significant number of books.  . Dr. Alka Pandey registered with Barkatullah University and Raja Shankar Shah University Chhindwara  as a research guide for Ph.D. work. In her guidance One Ph.D. are awarded in Microbiology and Two registered in Microbiology.
